A Baithak doesn't have a wall between artist and audience. Devanjalee shares stories behind the music and responds to the room as the evening unfolds.

To keep the evening flowing smoothly, we recommend that hosts share any must-have songs in advance. Depending on the format, spontaneous requests may also be possible.

Depending on the occasion and format, Devanjalee can perform with live accompanists, creating the warmth and spontaneity of a traditional musical gathering.

Is a Baithak only Indian classical music?

Not at all. Devanjalee's Baithaks can bring together ghazals, timeless Bollywood melodies, raag-based music and Indian classical compositions. Do my guests have to sit on the floor?

No. A Baithak is about intimacy, not a particular seating arrangement. Guests can sit on sofas, chairs, floor cushions or a combination of seating depending on the venue. It works just as beautifully in a living room as it does in an event space.

Will my guests actually enjoy a Baithak?

That interaction is exactly what makes a Baithak special. Guests aren't expected to sit silently. They can clap, react, reminisce, make requests and sometimes sing along. Familiar music often creates conversations and memories across generations.

How much space do I need?

You don't need a large stage or ballroom. Baithaks work especially well in homes, intimate event spaces and smaller gathering areas where the artist and audience can remain close to one another. The format can be adapted to the number of guests and the space available.

What do I need to arrange?

We ask that your guests are seated, attentive and engaged during the performance — clapping, singing along, reminiscing and making requests rather than treating the music as background entertainment.
