She also received training in classical music from Pandit Pratap Narayan Ji, elder brother of Pandit Jasraj Ji. With over 25 years of performance experience, Devanjalee has performed for audiences around the world. Her repertoire spans Hindustani classical and semi-classical music, ghazals featuring the poetry of celebrated Urdu poets such as Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Ahmad Faraz, timeless compositions by Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali and Farida Khanum, and beloved Bollywood classics. A Legacy of Musical Greatness
Coming from a rich heritage, her mother, Vidushi. Smt. Pratima Mitra is the disciple of Guru Jnan Prakash Ghosh, Dr. Jamini Ganguly and Shri Dhananjay Bhattacharya. She has collaborated with legends like Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, and Hemant Kumar, and their home was a gathering place for stalwarts like Anup Jalota, Ravindra Jain, Bappi Lahiri, Pandit Nayan Ghosh. Resilience and Sanctuary in Music
For many years, academic and corporate commitments took her away from music, and performing became a distant part of her life. A recurring dream eventually awakened her desire to return to the stage. When she was diagnosed with cancer, music became a source of strength during chemotherapy. She began recording and sharing covers online, finding comfort and a sense of healing through music. She chose to keep her illness private, allowing the focus to remain on the music rather than her personal journey. As her hair grew back, so did her determination to return to performing. The passion for music she had once put aside came back stronger than ever. Today, known as devanjaleemitra across social media, she continues to share her love for Indian music and preserve the Baithak tradition for audiences around the world.
